Clean optics and stable gas delivery are essential for consistent laser cutting. Contaminated protective windows, a damaged nozzle or incorrect focus can cause poor edges, unstable piercing and expensive lens damage.
DAILY VISUAL CHECKS
Inspect the nozzle, ceramic ring and protective window following the machine manufacturer’s safe procedure. Look for spatter, haze, cracks or burn marks. Never touch an optical surface with bare fingers.
CLEANING PRACTICE
Work in a clean, low-dust area. Use approved optical wipes, tools and cleaning fluid. Replace a damaged protective window instead of continuing production. Keep the lens cartridge covered whenever it is removed.
NOZZLE CENTERING AND GAS
Verify nozzle centering after a collision or nozzle replacement. Check nozzle diameter, standoff height, assist-gas pressure and gas purity against the material and thickness. Leaks or contaminated gas can imitate an optical problem.
FOCUS AND TEST CUTS
Use a controlled test cut after maintenance. Compare kerf, dross, edge color and piercing performance with a known-good sample. Change only one setting at a time and record the result.
WHEN TO STOP
Stop cutting if the protective window repeatedly overheats, the beam is visibly unstable or quality changes suddenly across the sheet. Send TechPro CNC the material, thickness, power, gas settings, nozzle type and close-up photos of the cut edge for faster diagnosis.
