A new CNC operator should understand more than how to press Cycle Start. Structured training protects people, tooling and the machine while helping production recover quickly from routine problems.
1. SAFE STARTUP AND SHUTDOWN
Learn emergency-stop locations, lockout rules, homing, warm-up and the approved shutdown sequence. The operator must know when to stop and call a supervisor.
2. TOOLING AND WORKHOLDING
Identify correct tools, collets, holders, torque and tool-life limits. Confirm fixtures, vacuum zones and clamps before every program. A secure part is the foundation of accurate machining.
3. PROGRAM AND OFFSET CHECKS
Verify units, work coordinates, tool numbers, safe heights, spindle speed and feed rate. Use simulation, single block and reduced feed for a first run after any change.
4. QUALITY INSPECTION
Measure the first part, understand tolerances and recognize tool wear, vibration, burning or poor edge finish. Record corrections instead of changing several parameters at once.
5. ALARM RESPONSE AND REPORTING
Read the complete alarm, secure the machine and collect the model, serial number, controller screen, photos and recent-change history. Never bypass safety circuits or edit protected parameters without authorization.
